LST-II, built in accordance with Republic of Korea's Next Generation Landing Ship Project that was pursued in earnest since 2007,

can embark landing crafts, tanks, amphibious armored vehicles, as well as around 300 fully-armed landing force, and enables take-off and landing for 2 amphibious helicopters.

The ship is equipped with indigenous combat system and amphibious operations command post, and benefitted from significant increase in ship survivability with enhancements in bulletproof areas and fireproof bulkheads.

Localization rate for key equipment reaches up to 96%.

2007년부터 본격 추진된 차기 상륙함사업(LST-II)에 의해 건조된 상륙함으로 완전히 무장한 상륙군 300여 명, 상륙정, 전차, 상륙돌격 장갑차를 탑재할 수 있고, 상륙 헬기 2대가 이착륙 가능하다.

국내 개발 전투체계와 상륙작전 지휘소가 신설됐고 방탄설계 적용 구역과 방화 격벽이 강화되 함정 생존능력이 수직 상승했다.

주요 장비의 국산화율이 96%에 이른다.
