Marines with the Maritime Raid Force, 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, conduct military free-fall training over Marine Corps Training Area Bellows, Oahu, Hawaii, as part of the 11th MEU’s Western Pacific 16-2 deployment, Oct. 18, 2016. During the training, the MRF employed two forms of aerial insertion: high-altitude, high-opening (HAHO), which consists of a free-fall from a high-altitude before the parachute is manually-deployed; and double-bag, static-line, which consists of a line of jumpers exiting the aircraft from a low altitude before the parachute, which is tethered to a cable located inside the aircraft, is automatically deployed due to the force on the tether as the jumper is falling.
